Top pay, plus up to $7 an hour in weekly bonuses
Base pay at this store is built to compete, and the service manager will walk you through exactly where you land based on what you bring. What we can put a number on right here is the bonus. It runs up to $7 an hour on top of your base, and it is paid weekly, so it shows up on the next check instead of at month end. Here is what that is worth over a week and over a year.
That is the bonus by itself, before your base pay and before any overtime. It is money most shops in this market either do not pay or make you wait a month to see.
The $7 an hour figure is the top of the range. Bonus amount depends on production and is not guaranteed. Weekly and yearly figures are straight math on 40 hours and 52 weeks. Silverado 1500, 2500HD and 3500HD, Colorado, and the full Sierra lineup from the GMC side including Sierra HD and Canyon. Duramax diesel work is part of the schedule, not an exception.
EV and high voltage
Silverado EV, Equinox EV, Blazer EV, Bolt and BrightDrop. GM restricts high voltage battery work to EV trained technicians, which makes that training worth real money to you.
Real diagnostic tooling
MDI2 running Techline Connect, GDS2 for scan and live data, SPS2 for module programming. GM requires MDI2 on 2021 and newer architecture, and it is here.
The GM certification ladder
GM runs its own training system through Service Technical College. Every rung on this ladder is worth more per hour than the one below it, and four people in this shop have already climbed all of it.
